‘From Fashion to Lifestyle’
Sacha Walckhoff’s long association with fashion icon Christian Lacroix continues for most of the ensuing two decades. With interludes designing menswear, womenswear, and accessory collections for Kenzo along the way. Sacha Walckhoff has been appointed to the post of Creative Director in 2010. For Christian Lacroix from which he has led an ambitious expansion of the Lacroix brand into new areas of lifestyle design and home décor.
More recently, Walckhoff has branched into new ventures beyond Lacroix, where he has defined and developed his own uniquely stylized vocabulary on projects such as a furniture collection for the Parisian galerie Gosserez. A collection of porcelain collector vases with Portuguese manufacturer Vista Alegre, and a series of glassworks with Verreum, among others. Sacha Walckhoff has also been creating beautiful objects such as textiles, carpets, furniture, and porcelain creations for labels such as Kartell, Roche Bobois, Rosenthal, and Tai Ping.
With a background arising from French, Swiss, Slavic and African roots, Sacha Walckhoff’s influences are as diverse as his origins. Walckhoff is also developing a series of sustainable fur rugs with Miksi, a wallpaper and rug collection with Yo2, and a range of coffee tables for Edition van Treeck. Despite wearing such diverse hats over a short time span, Walckhoff says his creative process is slow. “I like to have time, to be able to leave an idea behind and go back to it later to see if it’s still a good one,” he explains. “I want my ideas to stay.”
